50 years after the last professional baseball team from Marysville, CA, the Feather River Mudcats were formed in 2000 to participate in the Western Baseball League. Feather River went 41-49 under manager Rex Gonzalez and drew 87,179 fans, third in the WL. The Mudcats' lone All-Star was also the league's pitcher of the year, Jason Olsen. Olsen went 8-7 with a league-best 2.96 ERA and fanned a league-high 142 batters in 130 innings. When the league shrank from eight teams to six after the year, the Mudcats were eliminated.
