Biographical Information[edit]
Eva Ventrubová has made Czech baseball history a couple times.
She was the starting center fielder and #2 batter when the Czech women's national team debuted, in the 2019 European Women's Championship. She had a first-inning single off Emma Liminier of champion France for their first hit; it was also their first RBI, scoring Vendula Nesvadbová (who had walked and advanced on a passed ball and a balk). She hit .333/.467/.417 with five runs and four RBI in their four games, handling four chances error-free. She also pitched twice, but those were appearances to forget as she issued four hits, four walks and allowed eight runs (all earned) while retiring no one. She was second on her team in RBI (one behind Nikola Schwarzingerová) and runs (one shy of Nesvadbová) but only Johana Klimuškinová had a worse ERA in the event (she gave up 10 runs in 0 IP). [1]
Ventrubová was one of the few players on the Czech team in both of the first two European Women's Championships. In the 2022 European Women's Championship, she was 2-for-5 with two walks and three runs, backing up Karolína Blažková at 2B. She pitched 2/3 of an inning, yielding four walks and four runs (two earned) against the Netherlands. In the title game against France, she took over at second base late in a loss and singled off Cassandra Vigneau her lone time up; she came around to score in the 11-3 defeat. [2]
She then became the first woman to play in the top tier of the Czech minors, League One, when she took over at second base in a game for the Pelikans Bučovice in 2023. [3] She walked and scored her first time up, then was 0 for 2. She handled one putout and one assist in the field. [4]
