Biographical Information

Eiji Hatsuoka played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 5 years.

Hatsuoka signed with the Kokutetsu Swallows when they were founded in 1950, but he allowed 22 runs in 11 2/3 innings while going 4-for-11 at the plate. Thus, he was turned into an outfielder and he hit .247/.287/.292 in 1951. He crushed 4 homers with a .261/.291/.347 batting line in 1952, but he slumped to .178/.221/.211 in 1953. Hatsuoka played 37 games with a .224/.234/.224 batting line in 1954, and he announced his retirement.

Overall, Hatsuoka hit .245/.278/.303 with 200 hits and 4 homers in 5 seasons in NPB.
