Biographical Information[edit]

Ed Beavan played for the Troy Haymakers of the National Association in 1871 and for the Brooklyn Atlantics in the same league in 1872. He was mainly a second baseman and hit .259 in 13 games. At the time, he was mainly listed under the name Bevens, but the book When Johnny Came Sliding Home calls him "E.P. Beavans", and shows him playing in 1870 for the Brooklyn Stars at second base.

He was long listed with a missing date of death. Researcher Justin McKinney found him listed in Brooklyn, NY as part of the Beavan family, under the name Edward Price Beavan, a fact that allowed him to confirm both his birth and death details.
