Doug Cowling

Biographical Information

Doug Cowling founded the Hornsey Red Sox as a junior baseball team in 1935; they made Britain's senior leagues by 1939. His team competed against many American and Canadian service teams in charity games during World War II. Managing the team to a title in 1949, he was later inducted into the British Baseball Hall of Fame in 2025 in a class with Alex Smith.
