Biographical Information[edit]

David Zabalza was on the Spanish national team in the 1998 Baseball World Cup (it is unclear if he was related to teammate Javier Zabalza). He was 1 for 6 and handled 3 chances error-free at short, backing up Javier. [1] He was 1 for 4 as a backup outfielder in the 1999 European Championship. [2] He hit .375/.583/.438 with 7 runs in 6 games during the 2001 European Championship, fielding .944. In the leader list (which apparently left out the placement games), his .571 OBP was listed as 6th, between Christophe Goniot and Henry Yap while his 4 HBP tied for the lead with Jiří Víšek, Lahcène Benhamida and Tomáš Pribyl. [3] He was 2-for-3 for Spain when they won the 2003 European Championship. [4]
