Cirilo Herrington

Cirilo Herrington was a two-way player in Nicaragua and El Salvador.
Herrington was on the Nicaraguan national team in the 1969 Amateur World Series. His .310 average for Flor de Caña led the 1970 Liga FENIBA. In the 1971 Pan American Games, he tied Wilfredo Sánchez for the lead with two triples. He hit .226 in those Games. He led the Nicaraguan Liga E y R with a .350 mark in 1973. Later playing in El Salvador, the 43-year-old came up big in the 1990 Central American Games. The Salvadoran national team hurler had a 3-inning save over Nicaragua in the opening round, the first Salvadoran win over Nicaragua in 16 tries. In the title game, he allowed one hit in 3 2/3 shutout innings in relief of Aurelio Villalta in a 5-4 win over Nicaragua for their only baseball Gold in a Central American Games (through 2025). He led the event with two saves and was named the MVP.
