Chris Antonetti

From BR Bullpen

Chris Antonetti is the President of Baseball operations for the Cleveland Guardians.

A graduate of Georgetown University, Antonetti began his career as an intern for the Montreal Expos in 1997, working various odd jobs before being offered a position in player development. In 1999, he joined the then-Cleveland Indians organization, where he was noticed by General Manager Mark Shapiro, who made him his right-hand man. He then occupied a number of senior positions in the area of baseball operations.

On February 18, 2010, the Indians announced that he would take over for Shapiro as GM after the 2010 season. He stayed in the position until the end of the 2015 season, when he was promoted to President of baseball operations while his assistant GM, Mike Chernoff, took over his old job. Shapiro had left the team a month earlier to assume the presidency of the Toronto Blue Jays.

Following the 2022 season, when the Guardians won an unexpected division title, he was named major league Executive of the Year. He had previously won the award in 2016, when the Indians made it to the World Series.
