Biographical Information[edit]
Chiyosaku Hayashi was drafted by the Yomiuri Giants in the 2nd round of the 1965 NPB draft, and he crushed a homer against Joe Stanka in his second career at-bat in 1965. Hayashi was the first Yomiuri drafted player straight from high school to hit a homer in his first season, and it would be 28 years before another Giants player also accomplished it (Hideki Matsui in 1993). Hayashi hit .176/.333/.294 in 18 games for the AIL Dodgers in the winter, but he only got 19 more at-bats for the top team before he announced his retirement in 1956.
