Biographical Information[edit]

Chiaki Hagiwara signed with the Toei Flyers in 1961, and he missed his first two seasons due to a right foot injury. He hit .229/.283/.314 in 1963, and he only played 22 games with a .233/.300/.384 batting line in 1964. Hagiwara played a career-high 100 games (132 PA) with a .158/.223/.242 batting line in 1965, and he bounced back with a .271/.363/.386 batting line in 1966. Since the Flyers already had star outfielders Jinten Haku, Isao Harimoto and Shoichi Busujima, Hagiwara never got a starting spot in his entire career. He recorded a .252/.336/.345 batting line in 1967, then he hit .250/.321/.403 with 3 triples in 1968. Hagiwara collected 8 doubles with a .273/.321/.383 batting line in 1969, then he hit .256/.370/.340 in 1970. He played 75 games with a .229/.299/.364 batting line in 1971, and he announced his retirement.

Overall, Hagiwara hit .240/.314/.351 with 259 hits and 20 homers in 9 seasons in NPB. He had 1,218 PA in 682 games.
