Biographical Information[edit]
Carmelo Aguayo was on the Puerto Rican national team that won Bronze in the 1979 Pan American Games, finishing ahead of the US. Signing with the Texas Rangers, he made his pro debut with the 1980 Asheville Tourists, hitting .299/.385/.372 while backing up Donnie Scott at C. Back with Asheville in 1981, he played a lot of DH and backed up Curt Wilkerson at 2B; he hit .295/.394/.458. Had he qualified, he would've been 6th in the South Atlantic League in OBP. He winded down with the 1982 Tulsa Drillers, producing at a .284/.331/.413 clip, He had hit .294/.380/.428 with 32 doubles, 94 runs, 86 RBI and 75 walks in 157 games as a pro.
