Biographical Information[edit]
Charles Mosley, also known as C.P. Mosley, was a minor league infielder, manager and executive. He was a three-sport player (baseball, basketball and football) at Baylor University in Waco from 1909 through 1913 and then became the school's head baseball coach in 1914, holding that position through 1919.[3] He also served as Baylor's head football coach during the same six-year span.[4] He was widely known by the nickname "Bubs."[5]
He remained active in Texas and Oklahoma league baseball while coaching at Baylor, and in 1915 he coached the Baylor team while also managing the Fort Smith Twins.[6]
He hit .259 and slugged .319 for the 1911 Corpus Christi Pelicans. He split 1913 between the Texarkana Tigers (.278 in 30 G) and Dallas Giants (.242/?/.258 in 44 G).
In '14, he hit .284 and slugged .349 for the Fort Smith Twins. He tied Don Flinn for 8th in the Western Association with 22 doubles. That year, he also became head baseball, basketball, and football coach at Baylor; he would go 47-60 in baseball from 1914-1919 and coach Mule Watson and Bill Stellbauer.
He hit .273/?/.323 as a player-manager for Fort Smith in 1915. He batted .250 for the 1916 Terrell Terrors and ended his playing career with the 1917 Ennis Tigers, 1920 Oklahoma City Indians, and 1920 Pawhuska Huskers. From 1938-1940, he was president of the East Texas League.
