Biographical Information[edit]

Butch Davis was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the 12th round of the 1980 amateur draft. In his first taste of the major leagues, in 1983, he hit .344 with 6 triples in 33 games for the Royals, but never again came close to matching those numbers in 7 other seasons in the majors. His next-highest batting average was .245, with the Texas Rangers in 1993, and he failed to hit .200 in 4 of his 9 seasons.

On December 1, 2014, the Minnesota Twins hired Davis to be their first base coach for the 2015 season. He remained in the position in 2016 but was let go after a difficult season for the team.
