Biographical Information

Bunji Sugie signed with the Yamato club in 1942, and he hit .169/.244/.184 in 78 games in his first season. He was 3-for-38 in the 1943 season, and he enlisted into the military so he missed the next two seasons. Sugie returned in 1947 with the Chubu Nihon Dragons, and he played 67 games with a .226/.301/.258 batting line. He recorded a .193/.256/.227 batting line in 99 games in 1948, and he announced his retirement.
