Even by the transitory standards of independent league baseball, the Brainerd Bobcats had a short lifespan. Joining the Prairie League in 1996 the team (based in Brainerd, MN) only played two weeks. When the owner couldn't pay the bills and no new ownership group stepped in, the team disbanded. This was good news in a way for the league, which had an awkward 11 members. The Bobcats were managed by Greg Tagert and had a 7-9 record in their short history.
