Biographical Information[edit]

Yoshikichi Miyaguchi pitched for Nankai for two years. He was 6-11 with a 2.25 in the fall 1938 season and followed with a 10-13, 3.10 year for a career line of 16-24, 2.78 in 67 games (382 IP), walking 235. On May 6, 1939, he completed a combined no-hitter with Shotaro Hirano. However, he allowed 2 runs due to an error, and it was the only no-hitter loss in NPB history. He briefly returned in 1942 and was 2 for 10 with six strikeouts as a first baseman. Overall, he batted .222/.273/.287 in 84 career games. He was killed in combat during World War II.
