Beyer Stadium

From BR Bullpen

Beyer Stadium served as the home of the Rockford Peaches of the AAGPBL from 1943 to 1954.

The ballpark opened in 1913 and was originally known as Kishwaukee Park and served as the home of the minor league Rockford team until the end of the 1923 season, and the ballpark was then sold to Rockford High School. In 1925 the stadium was called Rockford Municipal Stadium or 15th Avenue Stadium.

In 1948, the park was renamed Beyer Stadium in honor of Charles Beyer, who was the high school's athletic coach.

Following the AAGPBL folding, the park continued to be used for local games and events but was eventually abandoned, and the stands were torn down in the 1990s. It was restored in 2004 and reopened as a historical landmark.

In 2010, an event was held there to honor the original Peaches' players as well as other players from the league and with the help of donations, an almost identical replica of the original scoreboard, an old-fashioned backstop, and a flagpole were installed.
