Bavaria

Bavaria, Bayern in German, is one of the Länder of Germany, located in the country's southwest. Prior to German unification in 1871, it was a wholly independent kingdom, and kept its status as a kingdom within the German Confederation until the end of World War I when it became a constituent part of the Republic of Germany. Its capital and principal city is Munich and other major cities include Augsburg, Coburg, Nürnberg, Regensburg and Würzburg.
