Biographical Information[edit]
Austis Gibbs played for the Netherlands Antilles national team and in the minors. He was a scout, minor league hitting coach and then coached in the Netherlands.
Born in Curaçao, he moved to Aruba at a young age. [1] He played for the Dutch Antilles in the 1983 Pan American Games. [2] He signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers and hit .188/.337/.290 for the 1984 GCL Dodgers, then improved to .256/.297/.416 for them in 1985. He later played for the Tigres del Licey in the Dominican League and Tigres de Aragua in the Venezuelan League. [3] He scouted for the Dodgers and Minnesota Twins and was a minor league coach in the Twins system. [4] He later coached youth baseball in the Netherlands, starting in 2019. He became head coach of HCAW for 2021 but was fired shortly before the season began due to trust issues. [5]
