Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Antoine Jean was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 7th round of the 2025 amateur draft from the University of Houston, where he was named the Big 12 Conference Pitcher of the Year in his final season, after going 5-1, 2.55 with 5 saves in 21 games and racking up 110 strikeouts in 67 innings.

He was not a complete unknown at the time of the draft, as he had been drafted earlier, in the 17th round of the 2019 amateur draft by the Minnesota Twins while coming out of high school. He first went to the University of Alabama, where he was a combined 10-2 in 22 games over three seasons, including the curtailed 2020 season. During that stretch, he had to undergo Tommy John surgery and missed the 2023 collegiate season. He then transferred to Houston for his final two seasons of eligibility and was 3-3, 5.97 in 2024 before breaking out for his big year as a senior.

He signed with Colorado on July 22, 2025 but did not play professionally that first year. Before he could make his pro debut, he was named to Team Canada's roster for the 2026 World Baseball Classic.
