Biographical Information[edit]
Anthony Gilich was a stand-out player at Gig Harbor High School where he was an all-state shortstop and won a state championship in 1997. He finished his playing career for Santa Barbara City College before beginning his coaching career.
Gilich began his coaching career as the junior varsity coach of Ellensburg High School in his last semester of college at Central Washington University. He moved on to the University of Puget Sound from 2003-2007 where he served as the team's associate head coach and recruiting coordinator. Gilich then moved to Central Arizona College where he served as an assistant from 2008-2013 before becoming the head coach for the 2014 season. He was head coach at Central Arizona from 2014-2023 where he holds the Vaqueros' best winning percentage of .749, accumulating a 395-132 record overall while leading the program. Gilich also led Central Arizona to two NJCAA Division 1 titles (2019 & 2022), and a runner-up finish in 2021. He was named ABCA Coach of the Year in both 2019 and 2022.
After the NCAA allowed for a third paid assistant coach in baseball, Gilich was promptly hired as an assistant coach at Arizona State University for the 2024 season. After one year for the Sun Devils, Gilich was hired as an assistant in charge of defense at the University of Washington for 2025.
