Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Alex Concepcion played in the Philadelphia Phillies minor league system from 2005-2010. He reached AAA for a brief 6-game look in 2009 and played 23 games for the Lehigh Valley IronPigs in 2010. Over the course of his six minor league seasons, Concepcion had a 16-17 record with 3 saves and a 4.29 ERA. Concepcion spent most of his career as a relief pitcher. After leaving the Phillies, he played a final season in 2011 with the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings of the independent North American League.

Concepcion returned to the Phillies organization as a pitching coach for the DSL Phillies 1 in 2016. He coached pitchers for the DSL Phillies White in 2017-2018, DSL Phillies Red in 2019-2024 and the FCL Phillies in 2025. Concepcion moved to full season ball as assistant pitching coach of the Clearwater Threshers in 2026

In addition to his work with the Phillies, Concepcion has coached for the Leones del Escogido of the Dominican League for many seasons. From 2018/2019 through 2021/2022 he served as the team's bullpen coach. Since 2022/2023 Concepcion has mostly worked as the Lions' assistant pitching coach. In the last two years, he also spent some time as the team's interim pitching coach. On November 13, 2023 he replaced Mark Brewer as pitching coach. It appears that Concepcion retained the interim pitching coach title for the rest of the season. The next year he replaced pitching coach Jairo Cuevas on December 6th. The team went on to win both the Dominican League and 2025 Caribbean Series titles with Concepcion as their pitching coach.
