Alain Gadoua pitched in Canadian leagues before and after a stint in France. With the 1999 Rouen Huskies, he was 0-10 with a 9.09 ERA. He was toiling for Bois-Guillaume Woodchucks in the French minor leagues when he made the French national team for the 2001 European Championship. He was 2-1 with a 2.30 ERA despite 15 walks in 15 1/3 IP. He beat Sweden's Tomas Eriksson and Belgium's Roger de Saedeleer before losing to Italy's Michael Marchesano in the semifinals. Through the round-robin, he was tied with Dave Draijer for 9th in ERA (1.23), was 9th in IP (14 2/3, between Samuel Meurant and Eelco Jansen) and was tied with Jansen and Maxime Leblanc for the most wins. Remaining with France for the 2001 Baseball World Cup, he did not get into a game.
