Biographical Information[edit]
Akiyoshi Kobayashi played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 11 years.
Kobayashi signed with the Asahi club in 1942, and he hit .203/.281/.236 in 79 games in his first season. He then went 0-for-12 in 1946, and he left the team after that season. After staying in the industrial league for three years, Kobayashi signed with the Shochiku Robins in 1950 and he was 1-for-2 in that season. He then crushed 5 homers with a .299/.335/.385 batting line in 1951, and he hit .232/.281/.285 in 1952. The Robins merged with the Taiyo Whales and became the Taiyo-Shochiku Robins after that season, and Kobayashi had a .240/.293/.299 batting line in 1953. The Kobe native batted .254/.308/.322 in 1954, then he had a .220/.272/.268 batting line in 1955. Kobayashi struggled again in 1956 as his batting line fell to .212/.259/.284, and he collected 14 doubles with a .265/.306/.338 batting line in 1957. He hit .245/.301/.278 in 101 games in 1958, and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Kobayashi hit .241/.293/.301 with 742 hits and 28 homers in 11 seasons in NPB.
