Biographical Information

Akira Kurata signed with the Nishitetsu Lions in 1969, and he hit .182/.217/.182 in 25 plate appearances over 32 games in his first season, backing up Mitsuo Motoi at 2B. He only got 4 more at-bats for the big club, and he announced his retirement in 1973.
