Biographical Information

Yaeko Vázquez pitched for the Spanish national team.

He was 0-2 with a 12.71 ERA in the 2002 World Junior Championship, hitting .286/.318/.524 as a CF/3B/P. He led Spain in both runs (4) and RBI (4), homering off Brazil's Rogerio Mukai. He lost to Mukai and then dropped the 11th/12th place game to Italy's Matteo Modica. Making it to their senior team by the 2005 Baseball World Cup, he had a 15.75 ERA in three outings, tying Xavier Civit and Txetxo San Martin for the team lead in appearances. Only Jordi Vallés had a higher ERA for Spain. Pitching for CB Sant Boi in the 2007 European Cupwinners Cup, he started the finale but lost to Leon Boyd and Neptunus, 2-0.

At the 2010 European Cup, he saved Ruben Fente's win over the Rouen Huskies, allowing 2 unearned runs in 1 2/3 IP; at the plate, he was 0 for 5 with a HBP as a backup outfielder and DH for Sant Boi. Playing right regularly for the team in the 2011 European Cup, he hit .077/.133/.154; he also pitched 2 2/3 shutout innings against Heidenheim Heideköpfe. In 2014, he pitched in Germany's minor leagues, with a 2.57 ERA in one game for the Ulm Falcons. He was 1-for-5 with 3 walks, 2 runs and a RBI, backing up Chris Ciatti at catcher.
