Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Teodoro Martinez began his professional career in the Texas Rangers minor league system in 2009. He is the son of Carlos Martinez and the brother of Jose Martinez.

The speedster stole 20 or more bases in four of his first five professional seasons and was an Arizona League All-Star in 2010. His 2013 campaign was particularly interesting - he had more home runs than doubles, with 15 and 11, respectively, and despite his respectable dinger output, his slugging percentage was only .379. Through 2013, his home run, RBI, at-bat, strikeout and games played totals increased each year from his first campaign. His long ball total went from zero his first season to 15 in 2013, and his RBI total went from 22 in 2009 to 47 in 2013. Another season of note was 2021, when he hit .339/.413/.458 with 130 hits in 101 games for the independent West Virginia Power/Charleston Dirty Birds.

He remained in pro ball through 2022-2023, when he played for the Tigres de Aragua of the Venezuelan Winter League.

Overall, he hit .268/.316/.364 with 28 home runs, 196 RBI and 111 stolen bases in 502 games in the affiliated minors. At all levels, he hit .270/.322/.360 with 56 home runs, 496 RBI and 183 steals in 1,248 games over 14 seasons.
