Biographical Information[edit]

Soo-won Bang pitched in the KBO for 8 years.

Bang joined the Haitai Tigers when the KBO was founded in 1982, and he was 6-7 with a 3.85 ERA that season. He then went 3-5 with a 4.88 ERA in 1983 (his team won the 1983 Korean Series), and he was 1-8 with a 3.82 ERA in 1984. Bang completed the first no-hitter against the Sammi Superstars on May 5, 1984. His ERA was 3.47 in 10 games in 1985, and he notched 5 saves with a 2.86 ERA in 29 games in 1986. Bang was 5th in saves in '86 season, tied with Jeong-soo Kim and Motoyasu Kaneshiro. He was 3-2 with a 4.25 ERA in 1987, then he recorded a solid 1.69 ERA in 28 games with 6 saves in 1988. He was 6th in saves that season, tied with Seong-kil Kim. Bang only pitched 16 games with a 4.73 ERA in 1989. He won four straight Korean Series, from 1986 to 1989. He announced his retirement after his fifth title.

Overall, Bang was 18-29 with a 3.72 ERA, struck out 237 and pitched 599 2/3 innings in 8 seasons in the KBO.
