Biographical Information[edit]
Rubén Quiñones played in the minor leagues and for the Mexico national team.
Quiñones began his professional career with the Acereros de Monclova in 2000, and he went 0-for-1 that season. He was 2-for-38 in 2001 (backing up Adan Munoz at catcher), then he hit .255/.296/.333 in 21 games in 2002 before he moved to the Cafeteros de Cordoba. Quinones had a .286/.342/.357 batting line with his new team, and he batted .258/.300/.347 with 3 homers in 2003, becoming the starter and throwing out 41% who tried to steal. He represented Mexico in the 2003 Baseball World Cup; with Jonathan Aceves catching, he moved to first base and hit .333/.333/.409 with 5 RBI in 7 games; only Edgar Quintero had more RBI for Mexico. The Cafeteros became the Rieleros de Aguascalientes in 2004, and Quiñones hit .272/.299/.354. He jumped to the Langosteros de Cancun for the next season.
The Sonora native hit .272/.285/.369 with 5 homers and threw out 47% in Cancun, then he recorded a .222/.250/.266 batting line for the Rojos del Aguila de Veracruz in 2006, gunning down 42%. Quinones improved to .309/.320/.409 with 4 homers and threw out 45% for the Rieleros in 2007, and he went 1-for-3 with the Yaquis de Obregon in the winter. However, he slumped to .240/.261/.332 and 34% CS with the Tecolotes de Nuevo Laredo in 2008 (still a starter), and his professional career ended.
