René Pablos pitched in the minor leagues and for the Mexico national team.
Pablos was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the 41st round of the 2001 Amateur Draft, but he didn't sign. He pitched 2 games with a 3.00 ERA for the Saraperos de Saltillo in 2003, and he represented Mexico in the 2003 Baseball World Cup. He made one appearance, closing out Mauricio Tequida's win over France by retiring all six batters he faced (Sébastien Hervé, Christophe Goniot, Gaspard Fessy, Pierrick Lemestre, Fermin Neme and Frédéric Rouge, two of them by K). Pablos pitched for the Toros de Tijuana in 2004; the LOOGY was 4-1 with a save and a 8.36 ERA in 28 1/3 IP spread over 36 games.
The Chicago Cubs signed him and his ERA was 2.45 in 6 games for the '04 Boise Hawks. He struggled with the Lansing Lugnuts as his ERA rose to 6.10 in 8 appearances, and he left the Cubs organization. Pablos was 0-2 with two saves and a 6.16 ERA for the Saraperos in 2005, and his professional career ended.
Overall, Pablos was 4-4 with 3 saves, a 6.44 ERA, pitched 79 2/3 innings and struck out 39 in 74 games in 3 seasons as a pro player.
