Marlén Lagunes has been on the Mexican women's national team.
In 2018, she became the first woman to play in a men's semipro league in the state of Veracruz. [1] She hit .438/.471/.563 with 5 runs in 6 games for Mexico in the 2022 Women's Baseball Americas World Cup Qualifier to help them win a spot in the 2023-2024 Women's Baseball World Cup. She tied for 9th in the event in runs and tied for 6th with 7 hits. [2] Mexico's 2023-2024 WBWC appearance was their first Women's Baseball World Cup. She played left and hit fifth in their debut, against Canada. She struck out against Raine Padgham her first time up then drew a walk from Alli Schroder. She was 1-for-9 in Group A, but with 4 walks, 2 times plunked, 4 runs and 3 RBI; she had 6 putouts and one error. She got her hit off Australia's Maddison Tabrett. Mexico advanced to the 2024 portion of the event. She hit .214/.200/.500 in that phase, with five RBI in five games; had 8 putouts and no errors. A highlight was a homer off Chiao-Yun Huang of Taiwan. She tied for 7th in the final round in RBI, leading Mexico. [3]
