Biographical Information[edit]

Luis González has played in Cuba and for the Cuban national team.

He debuted for the Ganaderos de Camagüey in 2013-2014, when the teenager was 6-for-15 with a triple, homer, four walks and four runs. He handled 19 chances error-free at third base. As a backup LF/3B in 2014-2015, he hit .235/.321/.382 in 29 games. He was a part-time corner outfielder in 2015-2016, batting .295/.361/.442. He did not play in Cuba from 2017-2018. Resurfacing in the 2019-2020 Serie Nacional as their main right fielder, he produced at a .274/.365/.505 rate with 10 homers and 44 runs in 60 games. He was 2 for 7 with a triple and a run in the postseason. [1] He tied Dailier Peña for 6th with 8 steals in the regular season.

González batted .310/.406/.474 with 19 doubles in 70 games in 2020-2021, tying for 7th in two-baggers. He hit .259/.429/.466 in the 2023 Cuban Elite League and .300/.391/.325 in that postseason. In the Serie Nacional, he was at .313/.415/.553 with 67 runs and 22 doubles in 75 games and .333/.321/.407 in the playoffs. [2] He tied Anibal Medina for the run lead, was second in doubles (two behind Yordanis Samón), tied Dainiel López for the most triples (7), was 4th with 145 total bases (between Dennis Laza and Alexquemer Sánchez), was 9th in RBI (55, between Frederich Cepeda and Yordanys Alarcón), placed 8th in slugging (between Samón and Jonathan Bridón) and was 10th in OPS. [3] He was 0 for 3 with a run when Cuba won the 2023 Caribbean Baseball Cup. [4] In the 2023 Pan American Games, he was Cuba's main left fielder. He drew a Randy Consuegra walk his first time up; he later started the winning rally against Colombia with another walk. In the 5th/6th place game, he had a crucial dropped fly on a ball hit by Deivi Muñoz that set up the winning hit for the Dominicans. He was 3-for-8 with two walks, two runs and a RBI for the Games.
