Kousuke Sakaguchi has played in Nippon Pro Baseball.
Sakaguchi was drafted by the Yokohama BayStars in the 3rd round of the 2017 NPB draft.[1] He was 3-9 with a 6.15 ERA in the NPB Farm Leagues in 2018, and he went 4-6 with a 4.67 ERA there in 2019. Sakaguchi also started 3 games with a 5.87 ERA for the big club, and he went 1-1 with a 8.02 ERA for the Canberra Cavalry in the 2019-2020 ABL. Sakaguchi then had a 4-1 record with a 2.07 ERA in the minors in 2020, but his ERA was 7.50 in 3 starts for the top team. He was 2-3 with a 4.11 ERA for the big club in 2021, but he only pitched one game there in 2022. Sakaguchi was 6-7 with a 2.90 ERA in the minors, and he led the Eastern League with 91 strikeouts.
The Hyogo native had a 6.00 ERA in 23 games in the minors in 2023 for the BayStars, and he was traded to the Yakult Swallows for Naomichi Nishiura. Sakaguchi was 0-2 with a 3.31 ERA in the top team in the rest of the season, and he was 9-3 with a 2.24 ERA in the minors in 2024. He led the Eastern League in ERA, wins and winning percentage. Sakaguchi pitched 18 games with a 3.70 ERA for the big club in 2025.
Sakaguchi's repertoire includes a fastball (peak 98.2 mph), curveball, cutter and forkball.
