Purdue University Fort Wayne inherited the athletics program previously managed by the jointly run Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne when on July 1, 2018, Indiana University and Purdue University parted ways, creating two separate schools - Indiana Fort Wayne and Purdue Fort Wayne. A few days following the conclusion of the 2025 season, the school announced it would stop sponsoring baseball.
