Biographical Information[edit]

Antonio Suárez is the brother of Fello Suárez and Tango Suárez. He began playing in the Cuban amateur league in 1941. He was 10-0 for Regla in 1945, leading the league in winning percentage. He injured his arm that year and did not return to action until 1952, when he had a 15-4 record. He was 1-0 for the Cuban national team when they won the 1952 Amateur World Series. He won 17 games in 1953 then was 2-1 with a 0.87 ERA as Cuba won the 1953 Amateur World Series. He had a 16-3 record in 1955. After his playing career ended, he was a manager in Cuba's amateur league. He threw a knuckleball as part of his repertoire.
