## Victories with a small number of hits

I just used a bunch of game finder searches to discover what fraction of team wins come with a small number of hits. As one might expect, the fraction is lower in years when there is more offense.

So this shows the fraction of all victories each year achieved using at most the given number of hits. The "5 hits" line includes all victories with 5 or fewer hits.

We see that low-hit victories peaked in 1968 (at least in the period 1956-2008) when offense was at a premium and Bob Gibson racked up a 1.12 ERA over 34 starts.

These graphs aren't all that surprising and are basically the opposite of offensive graphs.

We'll look at some more stuff like this in the coming days.
