Biographical Information[edit]

Tanner Robles played in the Cincinnati Reds system from 2010 to 2013, peaking at High-A.

He was originally taken by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the 14th round of the 2007 amateur draft, but opted not to sign. He did sign after the Reds took him in the 9th round of the 2010 amateur draft, a couple picks ahead of infielder Yadiel Rivera and in the same round as future All-Stars Jacob DeGrom and Whit Merrifield. He was signed by scout Jason Baker.

In his first campaign, 2010, he went 3-3 with a 2.98 ERA in 14 starts for the Billings Mustangs, striking out 66 in 60 1/3 innings. He was one of just four Pioneer League pitchers to toss a complete game that year (the others were Albert Campos, Heath Nichols and Daniel Taylor) and the only one to toss a shutout. He was also a Post-Season All-Star. Between the AZL Reds and Dayton Dragons in 2011, he was 9-9 with a 5.06 ERA in 24 games (22 starts), but still averaged more than a strikeout per frame (9.2 K/9 IP). He also led the Midwest League with 69 walks. In 2012, he had another .500 season, going 8-8 with a 3.87 mark in 23 starts between Dayton and the Bakersfield Blaze, though his K rate fell to 6.8 K/9 IP. With Bakersfield in 2013, he struggled to a 0-4, 9.39 line in 6 starts to wrap up his career. He officially retired on July 3, 2014.

Overall, Robles went 20-24 with a 4.50 ERA in 67 games (65 starts). In 304 innings, he allowed 282 hits and 172 walks (1.493 WHIP), while striking out 290 batters.
