Taiki Tojo pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball for 8 years.
Tojo was drafted by the Chiba Lotte Marines in the 4th round of the the 2015 NPB draft, and he had a 10.03 ERA in 11 games in 2016. He struggled again in 2017 as his ERA was 6.88 in 12 games, then he pitched 11 games with a 1.54 ERA in 2018. Tojo then notched 16 holds with a 3.78 ERA in 58 appearances in 2019, and his ERA was 2.54 in 39 games in 2020.
Tojo only pitched 5 games with a 5.40 ERA in 2021, and he had his career year in 2022. He got 30 holds with a 2.08 ERA in 59 appearances, and he was 3rd in the Pacific League in holds (tied with Naoto Nishiguchi). He was also selected into the 2022 NPB All-Star Game, but he withdrew due to COVID-19. However, Tojo's ERA rose to 7.45 in 11 games in 2023, and he was released after staying in the minors for the entire 2024 season. He joined the Leones de Ponce in the winter, and his ERA was 6.23 in 4 games.
Tojo's repertoire featured a fastball that peaks at 93.2 mph, a slider, cutter, curveball and a changeup. Overall, he was 6-5 with a 3.83 ERA, collected 58 holds in 206 appearances, struck out 185 and pitched 190 1/3 innings in 8 seasons in NPB.
