Biographical Information[edit]

Stephen Harrold pitched professionally from 2010 to 2015, peaking at High-A. He was taken in the 12th round of the 2010 amateur draft, the same round as future Cy Young Award winner Robbie Ray. He was signed by scout Jeremy Cleveland.

He was 2-1 with 7 saves in 22 relief appearances between the AZL Giants and Salem-Keizer Volcanoes his first season, striking out 34 in 30 innings, then he followed that with a 5-3 record, 42 games finished, 16 saves and a 2.95 mark in 57 games between the Augusta GreenJackets and San Jose Giants in 2011. He was a South Atlantic League Mid-Season All-Star that year. He earned a spot in the Arizona Fall League, going 3-0 with a 1.76 ERA in 12 appearances for the Scottsdale Scorpions. His ERAs slipped to 5.19 and 4.09 in 2012 and 2013, respectively, ending his time in the Giants chain. He joined the independent Rockland Boulders for 2014 as a starter, going 7-4, 2.87 his first year and 8-5, 4.13 his second. In 2014, he led the Can-Am League in shutouts and was second in complete games (3, behind Sean Bierman's 4); in 2015 he led the league with 13 homers allowed.

Overall, Harrold went 33-21 with 30 saves and a 3.59 ERA in 217 games (33 starts); in 461 innings, he allowed 417 hits and 185 walks (1.306 WHIP), while striking out 356 batters.
