The only other major leaguer (through 2009) with the first name Rolla is Rolla Daringer.
An article from the Casper Tribune-Herald refers to John and Rolla Mapel as pitchers who helped bring Casper the pennant around 1920.
The book The Story of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays remembered Mapel as one of the few pitchers who had a triple play performed behind him during his first major league game, after it also happened to Devil Ray pitcher Dewon Brazelton.
