Biographical Information[edit]

Ricky Rivera played college ball at the schools noted above while earning a degree in Digital Communication and Media/Multimedia. He went on to graduate school and earned a master's degree in Business Sport Management. While in graduate school, he served as a graduate assistant coach for the 2017-2018 baseball teams at the University of Central Missouri.

The Houston Astros hired Rivera in 2020 to manage the GCL Astros prior to the minor league season being cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. Rivera jointly managed the FCL Astros in 2021 with Wladimir Sutil after the Astros combined two FCL teams into one. Rivera managed the FCL Astros Blue in 2022. He moved up to a full-season league as manager of the Fayetteville Woodpeckers in 2023 before earning another promotion to skipper of the Corpus Christi Hooks in 2025.

Rivera also has some international coaching experience. In 2024/2025 he managed the Senadores de San Juan in the Roberto Clemente Professional Baseball League. Rivera was the youngest manager in the league and led his team to the championship series for the first time since 1997. He was named the League's Manager of the Year for his work.
