Biographical Information[edit]

Infielder Ramon Santiago played 13 years in the big leagues, starting with the Detroit Tigers in 2002 and finishing with the Cincinnati Reds in 2014. The majority of his career (10 years) was spent with the Tigers, playing shortstop and second base as a utility player. Santiago was a fine fielder but lacked a steady bat to become a regular starter. His career total of 30 home runs in 2,436 at bats showed his limited power but he was also streaky at the plate; both in 2002 and 2008 he would hit three home runs over the span of two days.

After his playing days in 2018 Santiago was appointed first-base coach of the Detroit Tigers, then moved over to third base coach in 2020.
