Biographical Information[edit]
Pyung-ho Kim played 5 seasons in the Korea Baseball Organization.
Kim was drafted by the Haitai Tigers in the first round of the 1986 KBO draft, and he went 10-for-53 in 1986. He stayed in the minors for the entire 1987 season, then he had a .130/.172/.130 batting line in 1988. Kim hit .257/.312/.274 in 1989, and he was traded to the newly-founded Ssangbangwool Raiders for 13 million yen. The Raiders only played in the minors in 1990, and Kim hit .231/.335/.331 with 34 steals in 1991. He was 3rd in steals, between Kwang-soo Kim and Ho-seong Lee. He slumped to .214/.320/.298 in 1992, then he announced his retirement.
The Iksan native was the baserunning coach for the OB Bears from 1996 to 2003, then he became the fielding coach for the Samsung Lions from 2005 to 2008. He became the baserunning coach for Samsung from 2009 to 2011, for the KIA Tigers from 2012 to 2013 and for the Lions from 2014 to 2016. Kim also coached South Korea in the 2015 Premier 12. He moved to the NC Dinos as the same position in 2017, and he became their bench coach in 2018. He was named the fielding coach for the Lotte Giants in 2022, and he was their baserunning coach from 2023 to 2024.
Overall, Kim hit .220/.312/.292 with 162 hits and 6 homers in 5 seasons in the KBO.
