Biographical Information[edit]

Relief pitcher Michael Brady has played in the minor leagues since 2009. He was drafted by the Florida Marlins in the 24th round of the 2009 amateur draft, one pick ahead of Keith Butler.

He began his career as a third basemen, but hit only .086/.313/.086 with 3 hits in 35 at-bats split between the GCL Marlins and Jamestown Jammers in 2009. He converted to pitching following the season.

With the Jamestown Jammers in 2010, Brady was 1-1 with 3 saves and a 1.59 ERA in 26 appearances. The next year, he was 7-1 with 18 saves and a 1.99 ERA in 49 games split between the Greensboro Grasshoppers and Jacksonville Suns, striking out 81 batters in 63 1/3 innings. He was 2-4 with 22 saves and a 3.38 ERA in 50 appearances for the Jupiter Hammerheads in 2012 and went 1-1 with a 2.25 ERA in 9 appearances with the Glendale Desert Dogs of the Arizona Fall League following the regular season. He was named an AFL Rising Star. In 2013, Brady was 2-2 with 23 saves and a 1.53 ERA in 49 games for Jacksonville. He struck 55 batters in 53 innings and was named a Southern League Post-Season All-Star.

In early April 2014, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim claimed him off waivers from the Marlins. He began the year with the Arkansas Travelers, their Double-A team. He went 1-4. 2.98 for Arkansas, earning a promotion to the AAA Salt Lake Bees, although there his ERA was 7.01 in 17 games. His overall pitching line was 1-6, 4.50,with 4 saves in 45 games, including 3 starts. In 2015, he went back to Arkansas where he was mainly a starter, going 7-7. 3.77 in 32 games, including 19 starts. He logged 119 1/3 innings and struck out 113. On December 11th, he was traded to the Washington Nationals along with Trevor Gott in return for Yunel Escobar.
