Manuel Martínez played for the Spanish national team for a decade.
Martínez helped Spain take the Bronze Medal in the 1989 European Championship. He hit only .130/.259/.174 in the 1991 Intercontinental Cup while fielding .929 as a 3B/2B. In the 1992 Olympics, the 21-year-old backed up Miguel Pariente at second base and went 0 for 4 with a walk while making one error in five total chances. He was just 1 for 16 with a walk and seven whiffs in the 1993 Intercontinental Cup, making four errors and fielding .789 at short. In the 1993 European Championship, he was 0 for 4 with four assists and an error, backing up Miguel Stella at 3B and Oscar Rebolleda in LF.

In the 1997 Intercontinental Cup, the veteran went 4 for 20 wit ha walk and a double as a 2B/LF. He went 0 for 4 with two walks and a run as a backup left fielder for Spain in the 1998 Baseball World Cup.
