Major League Baseball "Near" No-Hitters

From BR Bullpen
For games that fit the MLB's current definition of a no-hitter, click here.

Prior to 1991, Major League Baseball defined a no-hitter as "an official game in which a pitcher, or pitchers, gives up no hits." The first table is a list of the games that were officially declared as no-hitters before the rule change, and games since then that would have been no-hitters had the rule change not intervened. They include games in which a pitcher or pitchers failed to complete nine innings or lost a no-hitter in extra innings. The second table includes games that did not go the regulation nine innings, either because they were shortened by weather or curfew, or because they were originally scheduled as shorter games.
