José González is a mystery man. He allowed two runs on 3 walks and 2 hits in 3 innings for the Dominican national team in the 2007 Pan American Games. His moundmates included a former major leaguer, a longtime AAA, NPB and KBO hurler, two prospects whose careers in the US had been halted by a marriage-for-money scandal and two other pitchers who had at least pitched in AA. On the other hand, no Jose Gonzalez with the same birthdate as this one ever pitched in the US minors, making his inclusion inconsistent with the level of talent on the team. One news report listed him as being active in Japan but no hurler by that name or with that birthdate was active in NPB at any point prior to 2007. A pitcher by that name may have been active in Japan's industrial leagues.
