José Antero Núñez was a general in the Venezuelan army who was noted for his contribution to baseball history, authorizing several books, including histories of the Caribbean Series. He was inducted into the Caribbean Baseball Hall of Fame in a 2023 class with players Ramón Hernández, Luis Raven and Robert Pérez.
