Biographical Information[edit]

Hiroaki Miyagi played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 3 years and Korea Baseball Organization for 5 years.

Miyagi was drafted by the Yakult Swallows in the 3rd round of the 1980 NPB draft, and he had a 7.53 ERA in 18 games in 1983. His ERA was 7.88 in 3 games in 1984, and he pitched 4 games with a 4.50 ERA in 1985. The Swallows then released him, and he joined the Binggrae Eagles. Miyagi was the first Japanese KBO player who was not Japanese-Korean; he falsely claimed that he was Japanese-Korean to be eligible to play in Korea (which was not yet allowing foreign players).

He slumped to 3-3 with a 5.86 ERA in 1991, and he announced his retirement after having a 6.34 ERA in 19 games in 1992.

Overall, Miyagi was 30-31 with a 4.43 ERA, struck out 252 and pitched 505 2/3 innings in 5 seasons in the KBO. He was 0-3 with a 7.17 ERA in his career in NPB.
