Kahler was born in Athens, OH and attended Ohio University, located in Athens. Kahler was the fourth player from the university to break into the majors, but nobody else from the school would come to the majors until many years later in 1945.
George pitched in the Ohio State League at ages 18 and 19, going 20-7 in 1909. In 1910 he started with Columbus but came to the majors in August, going 6-4 for the Naps, a team which finished 71-81 that year. The next season George was 9-8 for the team, which finished 80-73. He was the same age as teammate Joe Jackson.
Kahler's ERA+ dropped a bit below 100 in both 1912-13, and in 1914 he had only two games before his major league career was over. He pitched a few more seasons in the minors, going 13-7 in 1917 split among three teams.
TheDeadballEra.com says he later became a physician. He died at age 34.
